There's no doubt that persistence always pays off. Raymond Young, a 63-year-old retiree from Edinburgh, Scotland, won a lottery prize equivalent to $520,000 dollars after 25 years of trying and always playing with the same numbers.

Young discovered that his faithful numbers were the winners of the Thunderball lottery game's main prize. His lucky numbers, 12, 14, 17, 25, 29, and Thunderball 14, finally brought him a victory he had been waiting for for decades.

"I woke up in the middle of the night and decided to randomly check my numbers, which led me to discover that I had won the main prize. I must have still been half asleep because, in the morning, I really thought it was all a dream," Young shared.

However, the confirmation of his victory the next day led him to accept the reality of his fortune. "When I decided to do another check in the morning, this time fully awake, I couldn't believe what I saw when I realized I was still a winner!" he added.

Since receiving the news of his unexpected prize, Young has been making the most of his victory. He has already used the prize to spend a few days at the Blackpool resort by the sea. "I've been going there my whole life, from playing on the beach as a child to staying with friends in the last decade, so it just had to be the place I chose to celebrate my win," he said. He also invested part of the money in a new car and a trailer, with which he plans to explore new destinations with his family and friends.
